What is the Truth?

Last Wednesday at the 4Tucson Patriot Academy Biblical Citizenship in Modern America class, we learned about understanding the times and what truth is. As Christians, we should believe that God’s Word is the absolute truth but recent surveys by show otherwise. In Acts 17:11, the Bareans compared the preaching of Jesus’ Gospel to scripture to confirm it was true. We should all be like the Bareans, to seek truth through God’s Word.
Please excuse all the statistics but they are relevant to where we are today as a country. According to recent surveys, 3/5 of Americans believe there is no absolute moral truth; 4/5 of millennials believe there is no absolute truth. What’s more disturbing is 50% of Christians don’t believe in absolute truth, 80% of Christians believe there is more than one way to heaven; 42% of Christians believe atheists will get to heaven and 56% of Christians believe that no religion at all will get you to heaven. Twenty years ago, 85% of Americans professed Christianity, today it’s 65%. Today, 77% of Christians self-sensor themselves, preferring safety to defending the truth.
No nation has ever survived where more than half its citizens reject absolute moral truth. Our country was designed for a moral people. Our founding documents are based on biblical principles. Some other disturbing statistics are that 70% of students don’t know what the constitution is; 65% do not know the role of the judiciary; and 62% cannot name the three branches of government.
To maintain our republic, we must first pray for our country and its leaders. We should also read, study, teach, perceive, defend, and assert the Constitution of the United States. If we don’t know our God given rights, how can we defend them? Our government and Constitution work because they are based on the principles found in the 10 Commandments.
John Adams said: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
For our nation to survive we must keep our government and its leaders accountable by applying biblical principles and time-tested truths.
