Housing Delegation Trip to Austin, Texas

By LaKisha Deon 10-20-2023
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and prayers while we were in Austin. Your encouragement meant the world to us and played a significant role in our exploration journey.
During our time in Austin, we had the incredible opportunity to build a collaborative relationship with the City of Tucson. The city expressed how they are actively seeking out ways to solve homelessness with compassion. It was truly inspiring to witness the city’s commitment to studying best practices from other cities that have successfully partnered with the Christian community. In this regard, they have expressed a genuine interest in partnering with 4Tucson and pursuing the various resources offered by our partnering ministries.
Your prayers and support have not only strengthened our resolve but have also opened doors for potential collaborations and future connections. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this important work and to have supporters like you who believe in our mission. While in Austin, I was blessed to witness 4Tucson’s vision “To see a city aligned with God’s ways so that His peace and prosperity are experienced by ALL GENERATIONS” and mission “To unite and mobilize Christians, empowering them to put biblical principles into action as we engage our city’s most systemic problems.”
Moving forward, we will continue to actively seek out ways to partner with the city and other organizations to address the issue of homelessness in our community. As an example, we have met with the Housing First Team several times since the trip and discussed several volunteer opportunities the Church can assist with serving our city directly.
Following that discussion, our team got to participate in the first MDOT volunteer event and packed care kits for those who are unsheltered and put together packs of resources for the city’s partners to utilize in their own organizations. Our new partnership with our City will assist with serving the homeless, local business, and Tucson residences who will benefit from sustainable solutions leading toward welcoming God’s peace and prosperity for ALL GENERATIONS. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and the positive impact we can make together.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support, and prayers. We are truly blessed to have you by our side, and we look forward to seeing you soon. To hear the complete account of the Austin Trip and the follow-up actions our city will experience in the near future join us and most of the delegation team at the 4Tucson Winter in the Desert Brunch. We will share opportunities to partner and join 4Tucson and others in transforming our city in a very specific, sustainable way.
