CEO Newsletter - October 2023

Prayer should be before every ministry.

It is in prayer where we are reminded that we are not God.

In this tenth month of 2023, 4Tucson has been blessed to witness first-hand the results of answered prayers from a city vantage point. To accomplish the vision of 4Tucson, to see a city aligned with God’s way so that His peace and prosperity are experienced by all generations, we were required to bathe the year with prayer. We then needed to quiet our spirit to listen and respond as God led.

March of this year was our inaugural Spiritual Heritage Bus Tour. The tour traveled throughout our city with a narrated script of our city’s history and revealing some of the spiritual strongholds that potentially prevented the flourishing of our fellow citizens. We prayed over four specific areas in our city: Church, Government, Education, and Healthcare. After the tour, over lunch, our guests shared where God has touched their hearts for our city. Before departing we prayed once more for God to impart His plan for them to get engaged in transforming our city.

I am a strong believer in praying specific prayers and calling out those things in which bind God’s people from flourishing under the rulership of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe it is because of our diligent prayers in specific domains of our city that we are seeing walls begin to come down.

To date, we have completed 7 scheduled tours and have invited over 100 guests to see our city through the eyes of our Heavenly Father. In addition to our bus tour, we have seen results with monthly city focus prayer times. Each of these very intentional actions of worship, prayer, and praise, God has blessed 4Tucson to see doors open that have never been opened before. We are witnessing partnerships forming that others said were impossible. And we are observing lives being transformed as Christians engage with our city’s most systemic problems. As 4Tucson celebrates our 12th year as a legal entity, the 4Tucson staff and I are rejoicing over the goodness and faithfulness of our Lord.

In the last quarter of 2023, 4Tucson is excited to unite and mobilize the Church to join us in actively praying for our city. We invite you to the following opportunities to partner with God in transforming our city.

Tucson Jericho Ride

The Tucson Jericho Ride and Celebration is following the 9th Spiritual Heritage Bus Tour conducted last week on October 17th. In preparation for these tours, we have identified various strongholds and barriers preventing the peace and prosperity of Tucson. At the Tucson Jericho Ride, 4Tucson will join with nearly 60 motorcyclists in a modern-day Jericho “march”. Our registered motorcycle riders will encircle our city with prayers on Saturday, October 28th starting at 9:00 am at the Harley Davidson near Ina Rd and I-10. Their route will pause at four locations in our city (North, South, East, and West) and join stationary prayer teams at each location that will be in prayer as our motorcyclists ride around our city. The ride will conclude at Kennedy Park Fiesta Area for music, prayer, worship, and food. This event is free to attend.  Click here for more information.

Government Breakfast

Knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in our civic responsibilities as Christians allow us to act out Jeremiah 29:7 which states “…work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.” In preparation for Election Tuesday, we have invited John Winchester to share insights about our local city government. As he shares key issues in our city that are preventing the flourishing of our neighbors, we will leave this event equipped with information that will empower us to address systemic problems in our city at the voting booths on November 7th. Bus Tour

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. We will continue the posture of prayer on election day. We have scheduled our second to the last Spiritual Heritage tour for 2023 on November 7th, 8:30 am to noon. Join us as we pray for God’s will to be done in Tucson. Click here to register for this tour.

Winter in the Desert Brunch

Our Heavenly Father is so gracious and faithful. We have found by abiding in Him, and He in us, that God has allowed 4Tucson to produce fruit to benefit our city. I encourage each of you reading this to join us on December 9th at the beautiful Saguaro Buttes. We will have a Christian Art Show and a time for sharing the answered prayers from a year focused on collaborative prayer for our city at our Winter in the Desert Brunch.

Thank you for your sharing you time in reading today. I look forward to meeting each one of you in the future. May God bless you and everything you do for His Glory.
