Problem 1
"No Vision For Our City"
Actively get involved in helping our city develop a vision for the future.
"What do we want our city to become and be known for?"
Without a vision set by meaning and purpose our quest to be a city of significance will remain elusive. No matter with what zeal or style
we pursue a foolish course as a city, the result will continue to be disappointment. Here in lies the rub. A leaders concept of God will
impact his understanding of meaning, purpose, and strategies for creating a livable city. One's concept of God determines how one actually
goes about solving problems.
For Example:
No matter how sincerely felt, all solutions are not equally good.
Some solutions are wiser than others and some are downright foolish.
When our city chooses the wisest paths we will have better outcomes than those times when it doesn't.
All of us operate from assumptions - things we assume to be true. Most of us do not test our assumptions;
we just make them and then act on them, often with a different result than we had hoped. The assumptions that "4 Tucson"
will operate from are:
- Because He is Holy, He is decidedly against evil.
- Because He is Sovereign, He is in absolute control of the universe and all that is in it.
- Our moral relationship with God will dramatically affect our well being.
- The right moral relationship with God involves love in action.
Our prosperity as a city is directly tied to:
A correct set of assumptions about God.
A heart willing to trust and obey God.
Challenges
Competing ideas for the future of Tucson.
If the Tucson Vision centered around supporting families by providing the opportunity and freedom that allows all her citizens to achieve their goals in life through hard work and determination, it will meet significant opposition by those who believe that future growth is to be discouraged by all means.
